"Quality doesn't cost, it pays." The Westgate Whippets |
![]() |
In 1970, Susan McCoy, known at the time as Susan Vargus, began breeding and showing AKC Whippets, starting with some English imports. After studying the breed, she acquired a young bitch named Pennyworth at Odds whom she bred to Ch. Pathen's Shaitan of Carrob. The union of these two dogs produced 10 pups, 9 of which became AKC Champions. One all breed Best in Show Winner and several Hound group winners. These dogs were closely line bred to Ch. Greenbrae Barn Dance and proved to Susan that careful line breeding is the way to go. Now 30 years later, some of the top dogs in the USA can be traced back to the Whippets of Westgate. |
